TWO WEEKS NOTICE
Escaping the Corporate World and Finding Happiness

Two Weeks Notice is not intended to bash the corporate world, nor advise people to resign from their corporate jobs. In fact, our world would not be the same without the Fortune 500 companies that provide millions of jobs and career opportunities globally each year. Large corporations are challenged with endless requirements of change and innovation to remain competitive in whatever market segment their product or service is focused. However, many employees, people actually, will get to a point in their lives where their career is no longer satisfying or meeting their expectations for happiness. This is an unfortunate truth that I believe millions of people struggle with every single day. IS THIS YOU?

My Story

My career started in 1985, one week after graduating from high school I got a job washing trucks at United Parcel Service (UPS) which was one of the largest corporations in the United States and later became a Fortune 50 company. While working through college in Southern New Jersey, I realized that UPS had endless opportunities for advancement. I remained a dedicated employee until 2006 when I decided to pursue other interests that would allow me to find the right balance between my career and my family. My wife Kim and I met in 1982, and are still together today. We were married in 1989 and have three grown daughters who have launched their careers in education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. We couldn’t be prouder of each of them. In 2006, my business partner and I acquired a small transportation company within Metro Atlanta which would allow us to place family first. We owned and operated the business until its acquisition in December of 2020.
During my career progression as an executive level corporate employee and a small business owner, I have coached, trained, and provided work / life balance insight to hundreds of individuals during my 39 years of Biz Life experience. I’ve helped people with resume writing, networking techniques, career pivot planning, interview training, family budgets, small business acquisitions, small business start-ups, and have mentored both young and seasoned professionals.

In 2023, I joined the part-time faculty pool as an asynchronous Career Coach and Instructor of Management within the Michael A. Levin School of Management, Entrepreneurship, and Hospitality, Michael J. Coles College of Business, at Kennesaw State University. I have had the opportunity to coach and mentor hundreds of graduating students in course BUSA 4150 - Professionalism III which is a required course completion to graduate.

Lastly, my passion for career coaching began during the 2009 housing market crash which rippled through corporate America displacing thousands of professional people at all levels of management. While owning my business, I was a volunteer at the Not For Profit organization of Must Ministries' Workforce Development Department in Canton, GA for about 5 years. During this time, I was able to help clients create or update resumes and improve interviewing skills since many of those displaced had not updated a resume or interviewed in many years. My heart goes out to those who want to work, have the education and skills but are unable to effectively communicate their strengths to achieve and retain employment for the long-term.

I believe that my combination of experience and coaching expertise makes me uniquely suited to help individuals facing the challenges of of today's business environment through career launch and navigation, job pivot, outplacement, business acquisition, business start-up, and the ultimate goal of BizLifeFocus.

I am excited to see what we can accomplish together!
